FAQ Frequenty Asked Questions

Does Invisalign and Braces both offer me the same treatment results?

Yes! Invisalign and Braces are both tools used to help improve alignment, improve the bite, resolve crowding/spaces, etc. The catch is, Invisalign is removeable and braces are not. Therefore in order for your treatment results to be predictable and within the estimated treatment time, aligners must be worn 20-22 hours a day.

Does Braces or Invisalign hurt?

Luckily neither braces nor Invisalign attachments should be too uncomfortable. The first week is the adjustment period for both. Stick to soft, cold foods you’ll be feeling back to normal before you know it. We recommend only over the counter pain medication, as recommended by you or your child’s MD, if needed and not more than 1-2 days.

What kind of braces do you offer?

We offer premium quality American Orthodontic Brackets which are proudly made in the USA. Each bracket is made with a specific prescription in mind to move your tooth into the ideal position within the jaw bone. We proudly offer both ceramic and traditional metal brackets both manufactured by AO.

How long do I need to wear my Invisalign?

20-22 Hours a day! An easy way to remember this is the only time they are not in your mouth is when you are eating or brushing your teeth.

Will I need to wear a retainer and for how long?

Yes, all patients who finish ortho treatment need a retainer. We recommend wearing your retainer full time for the first 6 months after treatment ends and then night time for a lifetime to maintain your beautiful smile.

How can I clean my Invisalign trays or Retainers?

We recommend a designated extra soft bristle toothbrush for your retainers. Use warm water and clean with a gel tooth paste (one that is not white) in order to keep your trays/retainers shiny and not dull. Dish soap and hand soap work well as well, any toothpaste that is white will dullen the retainers over time, so please avoid those 😊

How often do I need to come in while in treatment?

For braces patients we start off typically with visits every 6-8 weeks. With Invisalign we can extend those visits longer to 8-12 weeks. Once we are near finishing we may see patients every 4-6 weeks.
