Crowding Correction

Here are 4 patients each presenting with various chief complaints. All were treated with personalized treatment plans involving either Invisalign or Braces, interproximal reduction or IPR (conservative tooth filing), elastics/rubber bands, extractions and non-extractions. Treatment Times range from 6-24 Months.

Upper Arch

This patient’s omega shaped upper arch, and crowding was treated with Invisalign aligners. Treatment Time: 20 months.

This patient wanted a broader smile and her alignment improved both were achieved with traditional braces. Treatment Time: 18 months.

This patient had severe crowding, a V-shaped or tapered arch form, and a Bolton Discrepancy. Her treatment involved upper and lower premolar extractions to achieve a well aligned, functional, and esthetic bite. Treatment Time: 24 months.

This patient had minor crowding which was resolved using Invisalign aligners. Treatment Time: 6 months.

Lower Arch

These two patients each presented wanting improvement in lower arch alignment. We treated one with 2 premolar extractions and braces and one with IPR and Invisalign to achieve their smile goals. Treatment Times range from 18-24 months.

A severely crowded, misaligned, lower arch prior to Orthodontic Treatment (Mission VIejo CA)

This patient had severe crowding of the lower arch. We were able to align the lower arch and resolve the crowding by extracting two of her lower premolars. Treatment Time: 24 months.

A moderately crowded lower arch prior to orthodontic treatment (mission Viejo CA)

This patient had moderate-severe crowding of the lower incisors and a tapered arch form. We were able to align the lower arch using Invisalign and IPR to treat this case without extractions. Treatment Time: 18 months.

Deep Bite Correction

This patient presented with a deep overbite and chipped upper incisors. We were able to utilize Invisalign aligners to level and align the teeth, correct the deep bite, and use composite to improve the shape of the upper incisors. Treatment Time: 22 months.

Open Bite Correction with Invisalign

This patient presented after being told she was a surgical case by multiple other providers. We were able to correct her open bite and posterior crossbite using Invisalign aligners, IPR and elastics.

For open bite treatments we almost always recommend Invisalign aligners as aligner treatment has been shown in multiple evidence based studies to be more effective than traditional braces for closing an open bite. Treatment Time: 30 months.

Anterior Crossbite Correction

This patient presented with a severe anterior crossbite (commonly known by many as an underbite) which we were able to treat non-extraction non-surgically by using an expander, traditional braces, and elastics. Treatment Time: 24 months.

Phase I Anterior and Posterior Crossbite Correction

Phase I treatment refers to treatment that is needed while a patient still has primary teeth (also known as mixed dentition). Some common reasons a patient may need Phase I is, overcrowding, premature loss of primary teeth, crossbites, open bites, deep bites, mouthbreathing/snoring, and/or permanent teeth coming in at an unfavorable angle (most often maxillary canines). Once a patient finishes Phase I, we provide retainers and monitor them until all their permanent teeth are in. It is at this time we review if Phase II treatment is needed or desired.

This 8 year old patient presented with an anterior and posterior crossbite (underbite). We were able to correct the crossbite, improve the overbite, and resolve the crowding using a traditional expander and upper metal braces. Treatment Time: 10 months.

Gingivectomy

A Gingivectomy is a procedure that involves the removal of excess gum tissue using a laser. It can dramatically enhance the appearance of the smile by creating a more balanced gum to tooth ratio, reduce gummy smiles, display a broader smile, and improve the smile arch esthetics. It involves minimal discomfort and is completed in a single office visit.

Whitening and Upper Black Triangle Correction

With time the gum and bone surrounding our teeth may recede, resulting in black triangles between the teeth. These black triangles can be improved with interproximal reduction (IPR) commonly referred to as tooth filing/polishing, or composite bondings to increase the width/change the contour of your teeth. In this case we treated the black triangles with Invisalign aligners, IPR, and whitening trays. Treatment Time: 12 months.
